“A picture is worth a thousand words”
When this client was flicking through a magazine looking for ideas, she saw the bathroom of her dreams. Fed up with her tired, out of date bathroom that had a sunken bath tub, the client literally had to lie on the floor to bath the kids. The bathroom in the magazine was picture perfect with beautiful custom made cabinetry, natural stone bench top and the feature being a European style free standing bath tub on a plinth.
Bathroom Images was engaged to reproduce this style of bathroom, straight from a series of photographs in a magazine. The client was very specific about what she wanted to achieve and worked closely with us throughout the project.
The room was completely stripped out back to the bare framework and suspended slab floor and there it was - the hole in the ground where the sunken bath was. It was like a pit in the middle of the floor under the massive floor to ceiling window.
A timber framed plinth was constructed across the full width of the room, to cover the hole in the floor and to become the pedestal for the huge free standing bath tub that will become the focal point of this room when complete. In keeping with the theme, a plinth was also built to accommodate a large custom made vanity cabinet. The biggest consideration when designing the heights of these plinths and the cabinetry was to make sure that the top of the bath rim and the bench top height were the same, as depicted in the magazine.
New halogen down lights were installed with two positioned directly over the vanity and a whisper quiet ceiling exhaust fan was used to keep the steam at bay.
Large format wall tiles were used from floor to ceiling, complimented by 300x300mm polished porcelain floor tiles for that modern look.
The fitout included a 1500mm long custom made vanity cabinet finished in satin polyurethane with “Emprador” Marble as a bench top and beautiful ceramic counter top hand basin with wall mounted spout and mixer. The bath tub is a European style acrylic free standing type. A closed coupled back to wall toilet suite, polished edge mirror and 10mm frameless toughened glass shower screen complete the picture. The client later added stunning thermalite shutters to the large window behind the bath tub which adds a real touch of class to the whole room. The end result is a beautiful bathroom that perfectly reflects the client’s ideas and expectations.
When I met with Robert from Bathroom Images he spent over an hour with me. Taking my ideas and enhancing them, knowing there was a way of overcoming all the ‘negatives’ other companies had presented and he was upfront about everything. I walked out of that meeting knowing that despite what the quote would be; they were going to do the job.
From day 1 of the project the professionalism and friendliness of the team made us quickly see them as extended family.
The problems that presented once the strip-out was complete were quickly resolved - including the ingenious shower rigged up in my basement!
Having Robert as my personal shopper made it a lot easier to refine my choices and at times he would challenge my thinking into a different direction- point in case the “Emprador” marble top on the vanity.
Nothing was too much trouble, my many questions were answered and I was consulted on all stages of construction.
Their the quality of work and attention to detail was paramount.
In short, Bathroom Images created the bathroom of my dreams.
