The client’s, first came into contact with a Bathroom Images representative whilst visiting a bathroom ware showroom near Sydney’s CBD. They had been agonizing over their project for some time and were struggling to get their ideas interpreted correctly, get the right advice and feel 100% confident with a bathroom renovation company.
They wanted to transform their original 30+ year old bathroom into something a lot more modern, functional and visually, stay in keeping with the age of the property. This would involve some drainage moves as most facilities were being relocated within the room. The room is quite large so a bigger, open shower recess was called for as was a longer bath tub and custom cabinetry for greater storage space.
The room was completely stripped out back to the timber framework including ceilings. The old, original pipework was removed and all new copper hot & cold pipework was installed within the room, as was the drainage. The client’s wish list included an overhead (monsoon style) shower rose as well as a stylish slim profile wall mounted detachable shower rose on a sliding rail. A mixer/diverter allows for switching between the two shower heads, as needed. New wall & ceiling linings were installed and the slab floor prepared for waterproofing.
Lighting was improved by the installation of 4, halogen down lights as well as a heat lamp/exhaust fan combo.
Large format gloss white wall tiles were used from floor to ceiling to create a modern elegant finish, complimented by a 300x300mm polished porcelain floor tile in a contrasting colour.
A big feature of this room is the bank of custom made recessed shaving cabinets on the southern wall. This wall backed onto the adjoining kitchen (where overhead cabinets were fixed to the wall) so the only way to recess the shaver’s was to build a false wall in front of the existing from floor to ceiling. The extra finished wall thickness was only120mm so the loss of space within the bathroom was minimal. Coupled with a custom made wall hung vanity with “Cesarstone” bench top and ceramic under counter hand basin with mixer, the end result is stunning.
Another feature in this room, are the heated towel rails. The client’s wanted the benefits of a heated rail but with some uniqueness about it, so instead of a traditional “ladder style” heated rail the client’s opted to use 4 single rails, all hard wired together.
The end result reflected the client’s requirements and lifestyle and they are very happy with their new bathroom.
